After a very long car drive, Ryker is home! This little boy is just so very handsome. We cannot resist his HUGE mask and partial badger stripes! He is very sweet and curious - a quality we think he will pass on to his babies. He is also very quiet - the few times he has hissed, I've barely heard it! He's passed on his great qualities to his babies. I am proud to have this handsome little boy as my herds foundation sire.

Temperament: Very, very friendly! Quiet, mellow, adventurous, curious! Initiates human contact and wants to be held/loved on.
Meaning of Name: "Conqueror". Named after Jake Sully from Avatar! 

 Jake is one of the first hoglets we've produced. I'm not normally one for complete pinto faces, and we really didn't need to retain a male, but Jakes heart is made of pure gold! There is no way I could be around him and not want to keep him with us. I haven't come across a single hedgehog with his amazing temperament or big personality... he is simply the biggest sweetie ever. We hope that like his parents, he will be a  forward producing male, passing on his great qualities to the future generations.

Jake is such a good boy that he never balls up, hardly ever hisses, and doesn't even care when we just stick our hands in the cage to pet him. He waits patiently every night be loved on and then fed.

This picture was taken the first day he was handled - he was understandably scared then!

Meaning of Name: "Expansion, Growing" (German)

Czenzi is a great girl, although due to circumstances when she arrived, she wasn't socialized as well as she should've been. Her temperament is still wonderful on all accounts and she has produced gorgeous, friendly hoglets.

Meaning of Name: Named after Neytiri from Avatar.

I can already tell this amazing little girl has a bright future ahead of her! Even though all the stress of being shipped, carried, handled, and with all the noise, she was so very sweet as soon as I met her. She hardly makes a noise when I wake her up and nearly refuses to ball up. I absolutely cannot wait to see the amazing babies she will produce with Jake.

Temperament: Curious, a little cautious. Definitely a cuddler and a diva!
Meaning of Name:

This sweet little girl is very active and curious! She has a bit of an attitude and is definitely a diva like Czenzi. 

Our Hedgies...

All of our hedgehogs are registered with the IHR and breeders have pedigrees. We are selectively picking stock from the top breeders in the Eastern US as we can, and I hope to obtain more stock from the western US once our operation grows. I am being mentored by a superior breeder with 15 years of hedgehog breeding experience.

I'm proud to say that these animals are my PETS before they are breeding animals, and I have close knowledge of all of them and their personalities. I dearly love the hogs' listed here - they are all my babies! 

Our hedgehogs are registered from the International Hedgehog Registery (IHR). We are the ONLY Kentucky member of the Hedgehog Breeders Alliance (HBA). I am active in the group Breeders Helping Breeders (BHB).

We are currently working on becoming USDA licensed. 

Gone, but always loved...

We've created this part of the page to remember those hogs that we've lost. It was hard seeing them cross over the Rainbow bridge, but they won't suffer anymore.

They were all loved and are so very missed.



Nala

At a little over one year old, Nala has crossed over the Rainbow bridge. She struggled to the very end, being the stubborn girl she was. She was incredibly funny, quirky, and friendly. She will be terribly missed in our home.

Xena

While Xena was not the most friendly hedgehog ever, she definitely had personality - packed in a tiny, tiny little body that never weighed over 7 ounces. I still miss her grumpy but!

Raphael
Our first hedgehog, the one that started it all....

Raphael was nothing but a rescue case: Little did I know this big boy would spawn an eternal love for hedgehogs and everything that there is today in BigFeather Farm. He fought until the bitter end, and eventually, I had to make the decision to have him put to sleep so he wouldn't suffer. I miss him terribly, and still remember the great boy he was; fun, calm, and friendly once we socialized him.
